Meet Imelda Taraj – The Academic Mind

Greetings! I am Imelda Taraj, originally hailing from the vibrant landscapes of Albania, and now a proud doctoral student at the Department of Business Administration. My academic and professional journey is a tapestry of persistence, passion, and the pursuit of knowledge, deeply intertwined with the evolving story of Ecorustics.

From Tirana to Gothenburg: A Journey of Growth

My academic roots were planted in Tirana, where I pursued my Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance. Following this, I honed my skills in auditing with KPMG Albania, an experience that shaped my professional outlook and sparked a curiosity that extended beyond the practical world of finance. Driven by a yearning for academic exploration, I ventured to Sweden, a decision that has been pivotal in my growth both personally and professionally.

The Quest for Academic Excellence

In Sweden, I delved into the depths of Accounting and Financial Management, completing my Master's degree and embarking on a PhD journey. My research focuses on the intersection of Capital Market research in Accounting and the burgeoning field of Natural Language Processing. It's a quest to understand how narrative accounting disclosures impact stock prices, a curiosity born from my days as an auditor.

Life as a Doctoral Student: Balancing Challenges and Discoveries

My transition to a doctoral student was a natural progression, given my prior association with the University of Gothenburg. The experience has been enriching, filled with learning, friendships, and a deepening of my research interests. Despite the challenges posed by remote working during the pandemic, my involvement in various student committees has broadened my academic network and enriched my experience.

Choosing Gothenburg: A Deliberate Decision

The University of Gothenburg was a deliberate choice for my PhD, given its reputation for academic freedom and support in pursuing individual research interests. Here, I have found the perfect blend of guidance and independence, allowing me to flourish as a researcher.

The Swedish Advantage: A Supportive Academic Environment

Being a doctoral student in Sweden comes with unique advantages. The status of an employee at the university brings with it comprehensive health and social benefits, creating an environment conducive to focused research. Additionally, the connectivity with global academic networks and the emphasis on work-life balance make Sweden an ideal place for academic pursuits.

Gothenburg: A City of Balance and Beauty

Gothenburg, with its perfect mix of urban vibrancy and natural tranquility, has become my second home. From the serene Delsjön to the lively streets of the city center, it offers a harmonious balance that resonates with my own ethos.

Ecorustics: Blending Academia with Entrepreneurial Spirit

As an integral part of Ecorustics from its inception, my role extends beyond academia. I’ve been actively involved in shaping our unique accommodations, ensuring they embody the essence of the countryside while meeting the highest standards of comfort and authenticity. My experiences and insights, gathered from living in different cultures and academic environments, have been instrumental in curating these special stays.

In Ecorustics, I see a reflection of my own journey - a blend of discovery, learning, and a deep appreciation for the diverse tapestries of life. I look forward to welcoming you to our accommodations, each with its own story, much like my own.
