The construction of the current "Sé da Guarda" dates back to the end of the 14th century, during the reign of King João I. Building successively rebuilt, revealing an amalgamation of styles, which marked the 14, 15 and 16 centuries, from the Romanesque persistence to the existence of Gothic, Manueline and Mannerism, with the Baroque decoration it maintained disappearing, in the light of purist restoration ideals.
