Monsanto historic village

Monsanto, is one of the historic villages of Portugal and one that is distinguished as being the “most Portuguese in Portugal”. With traces of human presence since the Paleolithic era, Monsanto was donated by the king D. Afonso Henriques to the Knights Templar after its conquest from the Moors in 1165.
