Founded in 1458, this former female Dominican convent where Saint Joana Princesa lived reflects the experience of the community of nuns over about four centuries, with different architectural styles. The notable collections of the Museum of Aveiro of sacred themes or functions include painting, sculpture, carving, tiles, jewellery, furniture and vestments. They mostly come from the Convent of Jesus or other extinct convents in the city and the country and document different eras, from the 15th to the 20th century, with relevance to the Baroque period.
